Bio: Jimmy Fountain grew up in North Carolina and is currently living and working in Brooklyn. He has previously exhibited photographs, film/ video, installations, and drawings in galleries, museums. He graduated from the Museum School in Boston in 1994.

Statement: I have worked in Film/video and sculpture in the past but my current medium of choice is still photography. My pictures are often evocative of a sense of place and they present a feeling of unsettling familiarity or uncomfortable nostalgia and a strong opposition of forces (light v dark, human v nature). I try not to impose a literal intent in my images but a situation where meaning could occur, an empty stage where the subject may be the emptiness of the stage itself.
