I try to make beautiful paintings.
I brush, scrape, and drip paint in a manner that invites questions as to whether these marks are accidental or intentional. The casualness of the painting's appearance belies the nuanced and carefully crafted compositions that balance simplicity [a large centered form] and complexity [all the forms to the space of the painting].
All of this combines to produce the feeling of a transient moment: light, spacious, and free. That is the quality I'm after.
